Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) is a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conceptualized system driven by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that offers interoperable and accessible bill payment service to consumers via digital (bank channels) as well as through a network of agents & bank branches.

BBPS covers repetitive payments for everyday utility services such as electricity, water, gas, telecom (mobile postpaid, landline postpaid, broadband) and Direct-to-Home (DTH)

How to make the payment for your bills using BBPS?

  • Visit your nearest NICB branch.
  • Give the details of the bill to NICB executive, including your personal details like name, mobile number, e-mail id etc.
  • NICB executive shall initiate the payment for your bill on the BBPS portal and consumer can pay via cash or transfer.
  • Get confirmation for the payment made from NICB executive.

Will I get payment receipt after the bill payment?

The consumer would get confirmation from NICB executive once the transaction is successfully completed. You can collect the BBPS bill receipt in the print form. The confirmation will be sent over SMS/email.


How/Where can I raise a complaint?

A consumer can raise a complaint directly from any NICB branch or BBPS website. There could be two types of complaints:
  • Transaction based complaint - This type of complaint can be raised either for pending or failed transaction. The consumer can initiate a complaint at either NICB branch or BBPS website. Mobile number or transaction ID will be used as a unique reference number for raising complaints.
  • Service based complaint – This type of complaint can be raised for any non-transactional or service related issues.

What are transaction charges for a bill payment?

There are no charges for the bill payments done though BBPS.
